Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 June 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and LIOT Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) governing your use of Cyril, our mobile application and related services (“Cyril” or the “Service”). By using Cyril, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Who we are

LIOT Ltd, company number 13112711, registered at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@meetcyril.com.

What Cyril is, and what it is not

Cyril helps you organise your family’s school communications. You forward emails, messages, photos, and notes to Cyril, and it turns them into an organised plan: a per-child action list, a calendar, reminders, and an assistant you can ask about your family’s school life.

It is important that you understand what Cyril is not:

Cyril organises your school communications; it does not replace them. Cyril is a personal organisation tool. It is not an official channel of any school, and it does not communicate with schools on your behalf. Schools remain your authoritative source of information.

Cyril is not always complete or perfect. Cyril relies on the content you choose to forward and on automated processing to extract actions and dates. It may occasionally miss something, misread something, or organise something incorrectly. You should not rely on Cyril alone for important deadlines, payments, consents, or events. Always check the original communication from your school where anything matters.

Cyril does not provide professional advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes legal, financial, medical, or educational advice.

You are responsible for verifying important information and for any decisions you make based on what Cyril shows you.

Your account

Cyril uses passwordless sign-in by email. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since anyone with access to it could sign in to your household. You must provide accurate information and must be at least 18 years old and the parent, guardian, or authorised adult of the children in your household.

A household may include one account owner and a number of additional adult members whom the owner invites. The account owner manages billing, members, children, schools, and settings. You are responsible for the people you invite to your household and for ensuring they are entitled to access the information you share with them.

Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Cyril is a paid service with no free tier. Access requires an active subscription.

Pricing and billing. Subscriptions are offered on a recurring basis (for example, monthly, weekly, or annual) at the prices shown in the app at the time you subscribe. Payment is taken through your Apple App Store or Google Play account, and is governed by that platform’s terms in addition to these Terms. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The renewal charge is taken by Apple or Google.

Managing and cancelling. You manage and cancel your subscription through your Apple or Google account settings, not through us. You can reach the management screen from within the app. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds. Because billing is handled by Apple and Google, refunds are subject to their policies and are requested through them. We will help where we reasonably can.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If we do, the change will not affect your current billing period, and we will give you notice before any new price applies to you.

Family Sharing. Where supported, a subscription may be shared within an Apple Family Sharing group at no extra cost, subject to Apple’s rules.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Cyril only for managing your own household’s school admin, and lawfully. You must not:

  • Forward or upload content you do not have the right to share.
  • Use the Service to harm, harass, or infringe the rights of others.
  • Attempt to access another household’s data, or to circumvent the security or access controls of the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, disrupt, or misuse the Service or its infrastructure.

We may suspend or terminate access that breaches these Terms.

School and public information

Cyril uses publicly available school reference information, such as public school calendars and term dates, to help organise your household’s plan. We access this public information responsibly: we identify ourselves, we limit how often we request it, we respect requests from schools to stop, and we treat it as reference data, not as personal data about you.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you forward and upload. You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the Service to you (for example, to extract actions and answer your questions). We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it for advertising. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep Cyril available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may update, change, or discontinue features. If we make a significant change that materially reduces the Service, we will give you reasonable notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Cyril is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will identify every relevant action, date, or deadline.
  • We are not liable for any missed deadline, payment, consent, event, or other consequence arising from your reliance on the Service rather than on your school’s own communications.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Termination

You may stop using Cyril and delete your household at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we are required to by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law of your country of residence.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Cyril after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
